Crime and Federalism asks a great question: What seminal case motivated you to become a lawyer? Just asking the question presumes that most lawyers decided to become lawyers only after becoming familiar with some case. Interesting. Nobody decided to go to law school after thrilling to a statute? Not even the Internal Revenue Code?
Well, my own informal survey of lawyers does show that most lawyers decided to become lawyers after being either outraged or inspired by a court case. What’s yours?
